Policies and Guidelines
Gibson has developed the following set of policies and guidelines for participants in this community.
Basic Guidelines:
- This is an encyclopedia.
- Respect your fellow community members and authors.
- Follow copyrights – Do not post articles or images that infringe on copyrights.
- Avoid bias – articles should be written from a neutral perspective.
- Post only verifiable information. Cite sources when available.
- Gibson Wiki is an online encyclopedia created by an online community of people interested in building an accurate archive of information on the Gibson Family of Brands in a spirit of mutual respect.
- Appropriate Topics Include:
- Product Models
- History of Gibson Guitar
- Evolution of Brands
- Parts of Guitars / Products
- Musicians Who Play Those Products
- Signature Artists
- History of Models
- The Gibson Wiki is not to be used as the following:
- A place to publish original thoughts, research, original inventions, personal essays, opinions on currrent affairs, or discussion forums.
- A soapbox or advertising medium. Self-promotion and/or advertising are not allowed. Articles are acceptable if they are neutral, objective, and unbiased. External links to commercial organizations are acceptable if they serve to illuminate or add to the content in an effective and accurate manner.
- A repository of media files or images. Images may be referenced in articles if they apply to the topic and add to subject matter.
- A personal blog – may not be used by participants as a blog for their personal Web page or file storage
- A dating service – Participants may not advertise for relationships or sex or express or post any lewd or inappropriate text or images.
- A battleground – Please treat other participants with respect and civility. If you don’t agree with something posted, please rebut with factual edits.
- The Gibson Wiki is censored for profanity. Content that is considered objectionable or offensive will be removed. Keep it clean folks, this is a PG site. Anyone who posts objectionable content will be banned from posting.
Gibson reserves the right to ban participants from contributing to this Wiki for violating any of the policies listed above.
